Taking Sabbatical!

31 07 2007

I looked up the word Sabbatical and its definition pretty well describes what I am going to be doing.

A sabbatical year is a prolonged hiatus, typically one year, in the career of an individual taken in order to fulfill some goal, e.g., writing a book or traveling extensively for research.

Well, I guess it is time to finally fess up that none of this stuff out here on the internet really works. I would like to say it is just me, but unfortunately there are a large number of us out here that are now realizing that None of this is really all worth it.

I will be taking a sabbatical to work on my next book that I will be outlining all of the fallacies of the internet…until then you may want to check out my other book to catch up on what is going on.

You can check out the periodic blogs I will post over at my main site, IBGS Blog. Hope you enjoy the archive of blogs I have posted here.

BotNets: Is Where the SPAM is COMING From

7 01 2007

Thought I would give Rex Dixon a hand here since the news on Tech stuff is coming in from everywhere and this subject is impacting everyone.

In today’s New York Times there was a report on the BotNets, the term that describesnew-york-times.gif the SPAMMERS and Virus spreaders tactics used currently to spread SPAM and Viruses.  These Zombie Computers that Support Intelligence calls them, are generating billions of SPAM emails each day…yes I said Billions and if you are getting hundreds of SPAM emails like I am, then there is not need in verifying this figure.  I found it very interesting that they have been able to tract the creators of the BotNets to Eastern Europe…HUMMM.

Read on my SPAM weary friends.

Blogging: To Comment or To Not Comment

19 12 2006

I was talking to a business associate today about blogging and got this quick remark…”OH, never comments to anyone’s blog, you will be covered up with SPAM if you do.”  Since I know this is not true I take this as belonging with the same adage that you can get a girl pregnant by kissing.

But is that the reason people who read blogs don’t comment?

Really, I do not see that many comments to people’s blogs that I read.  When I do it usually is more of a chat or argument between two people over a subject…that is not commenting to me.

Stats show that thousands read blogs, but only a very small percent take the time to tell the person writing the blog what their thoughts are on the subject.

Of course, when someone is blogging on picking boogers, I am not sure there is a need to comment…their blogging on that subject should stand alone…literally.

Commenting on what someone else has to say should be more directed to the subject and providing an alternative point of view than to just comment to be commenting…

Yes there are the idiots out there the spray the blogsphere with comments to get traffic to them and that could be referred to as being spammed.  But on the most part comments should state a point or statement of support to an issue and not a notice that thee is a sale on Xboxes at Target….

I suppose that is why most people don’t comment…

SkyPe: Talk from your PC is going up

13 12 2006

skype_logo.pngI am trying to picture in my mind people walking down the street with earphone and microphone headsets hooked into their PDA or laptop like a cellphone on their belt, talking on the phone…just can’t see how I would want to pay for that…but SkyPe is cool and Techmeme has a lot to say about it today.
