Taking Sabbatical!

31 07 2007

I looked up the word Sabbatical and its definition pretty well describes what I am going to be doing.

A sabbatical year is a prolonged hiatus, typically one year, in the career of an individual taken in order to fulfill some goal, e.g., writing a book or traveling extensively for research.

Well, I guess it is time to finally fess up that none of this stuff out here on the internet really works. I would like to say it is just me, but unfortunately there are a large number of us out here that are now realizing that None of this is really all worth it.

I will be taking a sabbatical to work on my next book that I will be outlining all of the fallacies of the internet…until then you may want to check out my other book to catch up on what is going on.

You can check out the periodic blogs I will post over at my main site, IBGS Blog. Hope you enjoy the archive of blogs I have posted here.

Studio 60: Fade to Black

29 06 2007

s60logo.jpgOK Folks, it is over.  The final episode of Studio 60.  All of the hype of there being four or five more episodes being ordered up just seems to be just that, hype.  Lots of stuff being said.  BUT, who the frig knows what is going to happen with this outstanding drama.

Checking the Online Trotline:

TV.com gets the most Google hits on Studio 60, but they are not saying much so they must be buying that Google positioning.

Eonline.com did a good job putting into a few hundred words on why the show should go out…a good position for a site like that…I am sure that produced a lot of hits to their site.

TvSquad.com  My main man Jay over on TvSquad has a way of seeing what was going on with the S60 external plot, which to me highlights a total higher level of commercialism of the show that the CBS executives miscalculated, or did they?

That is about it for fresh stuff on Studio…seems most people online who were interested in the show left talking about S60 early this year…Hummm, could that be because there was no media hype out of the CBS camp for the return of the show?

Who really knows what is going on..it is just a shame that a great show has bit the dust.  I can only suggest that if you agree that you contact CBS studios to provide your feedback…it worked for Jericho which was one of the lames shows I watched.  It is not going to hurt.

Studio 60: Curtain Call

28 06 2007

s60logo.jpgYes, it is true, this evening will be the last episode of Studio 60.  It is unusual for me to blog on the same subject twice in one day, but this situation just felt like it needed to be mentioned.

There is a group out in LA who is putting a campaign together to address bring S60 back, or at lest bring to everyone’s attention the benefits this show was doing to the Arts.  Unfortunately it looks like CBS is just interested in the commercial side of things.

I would hope that they would do a review of the other programs they offer and explain why S60 is better than some of the other shows that are a lot less intelligent.

If you are interested in this groups efforts and want to read the ad they placed in the Hollywood Reporter, here is the link.

Studio 60: Maybe they need an Iphone

28 06 2007

Why is Studio 60 not getting any hype?  I would think that anything to distract from the hype around Ms Hilton and the Iphone would be welcome.  Or maybe S60 needs to hire Pair Hilton’s marketing team…come-on, can’t the media know that the only reason Ms Hilton is getting all of this attention is someone is marketing her…as homely as she is I would say it could be her parents wanting to marry her off.

But back to what is needed in the media and that is good TV programming.  S60 provides what is needed.  People want to be entertained with though provoking illustrations of life….Paris Hilton is not an illustration of anything but her life, not the life of anyone I, nor you, want to be associated with.

But again, I digress to mentioning the things that are wrong with TV instead of the stuff that is right.

Maybe S60 needs to put a Iphone in each of the casts hands and make it part of the plot oniphonejune1.png how Jack is making them all get on stage during their skits using an Iphone….if they are wanting to play the numbers then play it that way.

They just need to do something instead of nothing…which is what they are doing to hype Studio 60.  It doesn’t look like they want to save the show since there is no hype out on S60…at least out here in the Mid-West there isn’t any hype…who knows what is real in LalaWood?

Studio 60: Still Cooking

23 06 2007

As I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that Studio 60 executives are really screwing up with letting this well written show bite the dust.  There was no hype or promotions on it coming out of hiatus so I missed the fist episode that set the pace for the series.  I went and watched it on NBC.com this morning and it upset me that no promotions, not blogs no nothing was put out on that show come back on the air.

s60logo.jpgBut enough whining and let’s see what we have to do to keep it on TV.  Maybe another Network will pick it up and pay their light bill so the filming can be lightened up a little.  I know it is dark in studios when they are shooting live, but not in the offices and the rest of the place.  The show deserves better producing.  That is about the only thing that needs improving.

The plot is good and believable.   I just hate to think it is just going to go away.  What a waste.

Studio 60: Another Great Episode

14 06 2007

s60logo.jpgWell, Well, Well, is Studio 60 cooking or what? Can there be a faster dialog delivered? I hope not because I had to put TiVo on rewind several times to catch the one word lines written into tonight’s show. The writing is what making this show as good as it is.

Too bad we will be bidding them good bye soon. I don’t like it but what can one do other than blog on how unfortunate it will be to throw away one of the only shows that has any intelligence in the writing and the acting.

I don’t agree with the politics that is being threaded throughout each episode, but I do like the candor in the delivery of the subject. It brings in all point of views, extreme as they may be presented.

I’ll save the blow by blow and hope everyone who did not see the live feed of tonight’s show will download it and watch one of the only shows on TV worth watching.

Studio 60: Back Kicking Ass

7 06 2007

mr-business-golf-in-the-library-cropped-small.jpgI am a little pissed at TiVo right now…it did not pick up last weeks new launch of Studio 60.  But I did watch tonight’s fast paced yet humorous show.  I called it Fast-Slow-Fast-Slow…must be a new style Sorkin is working on.  Anyway, I am glad to see they brought it back…I was really missing watching something of quality.

Studio 60: When Oh When Will It Be On?

5 01 2007

There seems to be some confusion on when the next Studio 60 will be on the air.  Fromstudiopass_promote.jpg most accounts the report is it is going to be on this coming Monday, but some of the guides show that there is going to be a rerun of Hero’s on in its time slot…WTF…  I would tune in anyway since the TV Guides were probably written during the bureau’s Christmas Party.

Studio 60: Can The Writing Beeee Any Better?

24 12 2006

studiopass_promote.jpgWalter Scott in this Sunday’s Parade Magazine was asked why Studio 60 has not received more acclaim on TV and his remarks are the same as mind.  The show is promoted as a comedy and has a line-up of actors who are fully capable of delivering comedy.  If there was anything that could be improved on Studio 60 is the comedy, but since the director, Sorkin, is not know for his comedy he could be driving this outstanding program out the door.  I am with Mr Scott that hopefully Mr Sorkin can stand by his word that he does not want to do another West Wing and he will bring in some comedy writers that will unleash Mathew Perry to do what he does best…make people laugh….

(Sorry I did not provide a link to Mr Scott’s remarks in Parade, I’ll leave it to you to decide if you want to sign up for Parade Magazine and wade through the SPAM that is connected with that…)

Studio 60: No News Is Good News

21 12 2006

studiopass_promote.jpgIt must be a slow news day in lala-land when the top story is the claims that Jennifer Aniston being turned down by 24 producers for work.  Totally unbelievable that a babe like her would be turned down for anything… and Rosie and Donald Trump at it for what each other is saying or doing which is a clear shout for HELP from both of these camps that they need help in the promotions department…but the biggest thing is that there is NO NEWS on Studio 60…or at least that I can find and I would like to hear more about this great show before the Holidays engulf the entire entertainment industry….I guess for now, No News Is Good News.
